It is grown in the north of the island of Borneo. They harvest it from bushes found in the equatorial rainforest in the Sarawak region. White pepper comes from fully ripe red peppers, when, after harvesting, the peppercorns are immersed in water for several hours and then the cores, which then have a beige-white color, are peeled and dried.
